Testament - Book of the Year!!
I am extremely proud to link to this announcement by Juxtabook. It's on Twitter, which I don't do, so I hope the link continues to work for more than today.
I feel really privileged to have Testament announced as book of the year by a blogger whose taste and judgement I respect as much as Juxtabook's.
Thanks Juxtabook!
Oh and while I'm on a boast-fest, there's this too...
GO ALIS!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! A very deserved accolade for a great book. I still have to get you to sign my copy at some point. Lemme know if you fancy meeting up in London and having a general moan.
Hi Tim - hadn't even thought of this putting Testament in the same bracket as Thackeray but you're right. Even more wow!
Hi Frances - yes, good news is very nice and I am totally thrilled on both counts. I must confess to some trepidation, though, as to the comments when the nice folk over at the Cornflower book group actually read Testament - they're usually all about classics and more literary stuff. Still, it's wonderful that they're reading it.
You're very welcome Alis. But what's all this "they're usually all about classics and more literary stuff" - I think Testament is literary in both style and themes, its strong plot means it has popular potential, but surely you've a foot in both camps. Victoria Hislop is just popular historical fiction, you're literary, I just hope you get more and more popular too.

Aliya, that would be great. I shall email you...
Wowee! Who can complain at being compared with Thackeray.
Good to see some deserved acclaim.
How great that someone has some good news for a change! Congratulations, Alis. You must be very thrilled.

Ooh, how exciting! Well deserved too Alis :o)
Not as exciting as you getting an agent, Karen! Great stuff - hope you've been uncorking the champagne?!
