Testament in Germany

Just thought I'd show you the cover for the German version of Testament which comes out, so the Goldmann site tells me, in August of this year. If my v. rusty German serves me the title means The Master Mason's Testament but I'm prepared to be corrected.

I think it's rather striking - what do readers of HB think?

Very arresting, Alis! People will pick the book up, which is surely the point.

I also saw a pile of the paperback in West Quay Waterstones on Saturday, prominently displayed on a table. The paperback has a nice hefty feel, which is not always the case with MNW titles which tend to be quite short. Looks good value for £7.99

Thanks Tim! Yes, the paperback is exactly the kind of book I tend to pick up myself, so I'm hoping that it's hitting the spot for other readers like me...

Very striking and slightly scary cover for the German version! Your book is on my 'to read' list which i am working through steadily.
Congratulations on moving on to the European market

Hi Michelle!
Thanks very much. How's your own writing going - seems your blog pals are blazing the trail at the moment? Hope you're on the 'published' list soon yourself!

It has a nice gothic edge to it. I know Testament is not a Gothic novel exactly, though the architecture probably was, but I think this kind of image probably pitches your book to the widest possible number of people without being dishonest.

Very striking indeed. (Though I have to confess a deep affection for the MNW original cover, which is at once dazzling and a bit enigmatic.)

Hi Juxtabook - I'm all for the book being pitched to the widest possible audience but I'm glad you don't think the cover is trying to pretend Testament is something it's not(not that I had any say in it - I just googled Goldmann Verlag to see what was happening with the book!)

Hi David - dazzling and a bit enigmatic - I couldn't have put it better myself!
